Project Outcome
This project helped reposition Child Mind Institute’s digital presence as both a trusted resource and a compassionate guide. The site now meets users with clarity, credibility, and care, supporting families and professionals with tools they can trust. It was an honor to help bring their mission to life online, turning a content-rich website into a user-centered experience that supports mental health journeys with dignity and design ease.

Beyond the public-facing experience, we focused on ensuring the site could grow with the organization’s evolving goals. We developed a modular design system and content governance strategy that empowered internal teams to update, scale, and translate materials across regions and languages. This future-proofed approach allowed Child Mind Institute to stay agile whether publishing new research, responding to current events, or expanding services.
Bridging Families and Expert Mental Health Services
Child Mind Institute is a leading nonprofit advancing children's mental health through clinical care, education, and science. While their work is deeply impactful, their existing digital platform was struggling to serve the wide range of users relying on it parents, educators, clinicians, and researchers. Navigation was confusing, the brand lacked emotional resonance, and users often struggled to find or trust the information they needed. I joined the team to help transform their website into an accessible, emotionally informing, and expert-driven experience that could support families through their most difficult moments.

Website Design

We developed a visual system that could hold the weight of clinical rigor while offering emotional comfort. Typography, color, and iconography were rethought to be warm and accessible, supporting long-form reading while reducing stigma. Custom illustrations and photography centered children and families in moments of connection, helping humanize the experience without being clinical or cold. The result was a visual identity that built trust at first glance while feeling inclusive and affirming across diverse audiences.
To support families in taking the next step, we introduced features like a guided symptom tool, multilingual content, and clearer pathways to care and resources. Content was restructured to support a range of literacy levels and emotional states whether someone was skimming for quick answers or looking to understand a diagnosis deeply. We also created flexible content templates and CMS guidance so their team could continue evolving the site without compromising quality or accessibility. Every element was designed to reduce friction and increase confidence in a moment when families feel most vulnerable.
