Project Outcome

Spark the Journey’s new identity marked more than a name change, it was a call to action. With a unified story, bold design, and messaging that empowers, the organization is now equipped to expand its reach and deepen its impact. The brand invites every young person, mentor, and partner to be part of a shared journey—and to see themselves in the future they’re helping to create.

A New Identity for Spark The Journey: Guiding Youth Toward Brighter Futures

Spark the Journey supports first-generation, underserved youth in Washington, DC, helping them achieve college success and early career readiness. After three decades of impact, the organization was ready to move beyond its legacy identity (Capital Partners for Education) to reflect a more dynamic, future-facing mission. They needed a bold, youthful brand that radiated optimism, energy, and inclusivity, while centering young people’s experiences and aspirations. I led the rebranding effort to craft a visual identity that would inspire students, mentors, and supporters alike.

Identity Design

Visual System Design
Brand Guidelines

The visual identity was designed to feel vibrant and human. Bold shapes and movement-based motifs conveyed progress and growth, while the color palette introduced a sense of optimism and warmth. We developed a design system that works across platforms, from event signage to social media, anchored in clarity and energy. The logo and visual toolkit offered flexibility while remaining unmistakably Spark.

To support adoption across the team, we created a core messaging framework that simplified how the organization talks about its work. We wrote foundational statements, vision, mission, values, and aligned messaging across audiences. The tone balanced professional clarity with the emotional resonance needed to connect with students and mentors alike. Internal guides and templates helped staff communicate with confidence.
