Project Outcome

Aya Contigo 2.0 is the result of years of learning, iteration, and collaboration with the communities it serves. The redesigned app offers a more intuitive, personalized experience supporting users before, during, and after key reproductive health moments. With clearer content, stronger accessibility features, and a refreshed, culturally grounded visual identity, Aya now connects users not just to information, but to care, self-agency, and trusted grassroots networks in 4 countries & growing.

We began by piloting the solution in targeted communities to evaluate its real-world impact and gather user feedback. Based on these learnings, we expanded into new regions with similar cultural and health landscapes, adapting the experience as needed. To support this growth, we reinforced infrastructure and partnerships to ensure long-term scalability. Impact was tracked through clear KPIs measuring engagement, trust, informed decision-making, and behavioral outcomes ensuring the product evolved in step with the communities it serves.

Self Guided Reproductive Care for Marginalized Communities

Vitala Global is a nonprofit expanding reproductive autonomy through digital tools designed for marginalized communities. Together we designed Aya Contigo, a self-guided reproductive care platform that prioritizes safety, privacy, and user agency. Working in regions where reproductive health access is limited or stigmatized, the challenge was to create an experience that feels trustworthy, culturally sensitive, and easy to navigate. Together, we set out to translate clinical pathways into an intuitive, human-centered digital journey for those often left out of traditional healthcare systems.

Case for Support

In Venezuela, systemic barriers, ranging from limited access to accurate information to stigma and gaps in care, severely restrict reproductive autonomy, especially for women and young people. To design a solution rooted in real needs, I led human-centered research to uncover the lived experiences, emotional landscape, and daily realities surrounding SRH in this context. Venezuela served as a critical testing ground, allowing us to prototype and refine a model that could later scale to other geographies with similar constraints. These insights laid the groundwork for co-creating a digital tool that is accessible, culturally relevant, and supportive of informed, autonomous decision-making.

We engaged a diverse group of participants across Venezuela and the broader region, including adolescents, young adults, caregivers, health promoters, and activists. Through participatory workshops, rapid prototyping, and iterative user testing, we invited their insight and creativity into every stage of the process. Multiple prototype rounds allowed us to refine navigation, language, and visual identity, ensuring the tool felt intuitive, supportive, and dignified. This wasn’t about designing for Latinas, it was about building with them to create a solution that informs, connects, and respects the complexity of their SRH journeys.
